Both locations need the same documents. Bring a valid photo ID and know your Social Security number. If you were married before, have the exact date your last marriage ended and whether it was a divorce, death, or annulment. How to Get a Marriage License in Duval County
Duval County gives you a head start with its online pre-application kiosk. Fill out the form at home before you visit. This cuts down your time at the office. You still have to go in person since both people must appear, but the paperwork part goes much faster.

At the office, both people sign the application under oath. The clerk checks your IDs and collects the fee. The standard cost is $86. If both parties took a premarital course, the fee is $61 and there is no waiting period. Florida residents without the course wait three days before the license becomes active. Applicants under 18 need parental consent to apply in Duval County.

Duval County Marriage License Fees
The standard fee is $86 in Duval County. Some sources list $93.50 when processing fees are included. With a premarital course certificate, the fee drops to $61 under Florida Statute 741.0305. The course must be at least four hours from a provider registered with the clerk.
Part of the fee goes to the state. The Domestic Violence Trust Fund gets $25 and the State Courts Revenue Trust Fund gets $25. The rest covers the clerk's costs. Certified copies of filed marriage records cost about $3 each. Check with the Duval County Clerk about which payment methods they accept at each location. Cash is the safest option.
Duval County Marriage License Rules
A Duval County marriage license lasts 60 days. Florida Statute 741.041 sets this timeframe. Hold the ceremony before the license expires or you will need to apply again. You can get married anywhere in Florida with a Duval County license. It does not have to be in Jacksonville or anywhere in Duval County.
After the ceremony, the officiant returns the signed license to the Duval County Clerk. The clerk records it and sends a copy to the Florida Department of Health for permanent storage. This takes about 60 days. Under Florida Statute 741.07, ordained ministers, judicial officers, clerks, and notaries can all perform the ceremony.
