The Escambia County Clerk of the Circuit Court handles all marriage license applications. You must make an appointment. Walk-ins are not accepted for marriage licenses in Escambia County. Call the main office in Pensacola or the Century office to schedule your time.
Appointments run Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. CST. The main Pensacola office is on West Government Street. The Century office in the northern part of the county serves residents closer to the Alabama border. Both parties must show up at the same time with a completed and signed application.

Applying for an Escambia County Marriage License
Start by calling to set an appointment. Before you go, fill out and sign the marriage license application. Bring it with you. Both people must be present at the appointment. The clerk cannot process the application with just one person there.
Bring these items to your Escambia County appointment:
- Completed and signed application
- Valid photo ID (driver's license, military ID, visa, or passport)
- Social Security number or alien registration number
- Premarital counseling certificate if applicable
- Affirmation of Common Children form if applicable (do not sign until at the clerk's office)
- Date your last marriage ended if previously married
Under Florida Statute 741.04, both people must be at least 18. A 17-year-old can apply in Escambia County with notarized consent from both parents. The Family Law Handbook should be read before the appointment.
Escambia County Marriage License Fees
The standard license costs $86. With a premarital counseling certificate, the fee is $61. Florida Statute 741.0305 sets the $25 discount for completing the four-hour course. The Escambia County Clerk also charges an Oath Fee of $3.50 if you need to file the Affirmation of Common Children form.
Ceremonies in Escambia County cost $30. You must schedule a separate appointment for the ceremony after you get the license. Credit and debit card transactions have a 3.5% processing fee on top of the license cost. Cash is the cheapest option if you want to avoid the extra charge.
The Florida Department of Health charges separate fees for ordering certified marriage certificates at the state level. Those run $5 for the first copy and $4 for each extra one.

Florida residents face a three-day waiting period. The license is not active until three days after it is issued. Taking a premarital course waives the wait. Out-of-state couples skip the wait entirely. The license is valid for 60 days under Florida Statute 741.041. The license only works in Florida.
After the wedding, the officiant returns the signed license to the Escambia County Clerk. The clerk records it and sends a copy to the state.
