How to Get a Marriage License in Hamilton County

Start by calling the Hamilton County clerk to schedule your appointment. Both people must appear in person. You cannot send someone else on your behalf. Under Florida Statute 741.0305, the course must be from a registered provider and cover topics like communication, conflict management, and money. Bring the original completion certificate to the Hamilton County clerk's office when you apply. Copies are not accepted.

Hamilton County Marriage License Waiting Period

Florida residents face a three-day wait. The license is not valid until day four after the application date. This applies in Hamilton County and every other Florida county. Out-of-state applicants skip the wait completely. Florida residents who both complete the premarital course also skip it.

The Hamilton County marriage license is good for 60 days. Under Florida Statute 741.041, the ceremony must happen before the license expires. If it does expire, you must reapply and pay again.
