Marriage License Requirements in Palm Coast

Both applicants must appear in person at the Flagler Clerk's office. No exceptions. Bring a valid photo ID. A driver's license, passport, state ID, or military ID works. You need to provide your Social Security number. The physical card is not needed. Just know the number and be ready to share it.

Both people must be at least 18 years old under Florida Statute 741.04. A 17-year-old can apply with parental consent if the age gap is two years or less. No blood test is needed. There is no residency requirement. People from out of state can get a marriage license in Flagler County just like Palm Coast residents.

The Flagler Clerk requires all applicants to read the Family Law Handbook published by the Florida Bar. This is a state requirement. The clerk will ask about it. If either of you was married before, bring the end date of the last marriage and know whether it was a divorce, death, or annulment.

Note: Palm Coast couples with children born in Florida together should be prepared to provide that information at the clerk's office.

Palm Coast Marriage License Fees

The standard fee is $86. If both people complete a four-hour premarital course, the fee drops to $61. Under Florida Statute 741.0305, both applicants need their course completion certificates to get the reduced rate. The course also waives the three-day waiting period for Florida residents.

The Flagler Clerk charges $30 for a courthouse ceremony. Certified copies of the marriage license cost $3 each. If you need the license mailed to you, there is a small postage charge on top of the standard fees. Part of the $86 goes to the state Domestic Violence Trust Fund. The clerk accepts various payment methods at the Bunnell courthouse.

Wait Period for Palm Coast Licenses

Florida residents have a three-day waiting period. After the Flagler Clerk issues the license, you must wait three days before holding the ceremony. This is a state-level rule. Non-Florida residents have no waiting period. The premarital course waives the wait for Florida residents too.

Once the license is valid, you have 60 days to use it. Florida Statute 741.041 sets this time limit. If 60 days pass without a ceremony, the license expires. You would have to go back to the Flagler Clerk, apply again, and pay the fee again. After the wedding, the officiant returns the signed license to the Flagler Clerk within 10 days.

Ceremony Options in Palm Coast

The Flagler Clerk offers courthouse ceremonies for $30. Ceremony appointments are available from 8:30 to 11:30 AM and 1:30 to 3:30 PM at the Bunnell office. You need to schedule ahead for a ceremony. Under Florida Statute 741.07, judges, ordained ministers, notary publics, and clerks of the circuit court can all perform wedding ceremonies.

Palm Coast couples are not limited to the courthouse. You can have the ceremony at a church, a park, a beach, or any private venue. A Flagler County marriage license works across all of Florida. The location of the ceremony does not matter. Just make sure the officiant is someone authorized by Florida law and that they know to return the signed license within 10 days.

The Flagler Clerk files the returned license and sends it to the Florida Department of Health for the permanent state record. You can order certified copies from the state for $5 (search fee) plus $4 per copy. VitalChek also handles online orders for an additional processing fee.
