How to Apply for a Lee County Marriage License

Both people must go to the Lee County Clerk's office in Fort Myers in person. Bring a valid photo ID such as a driver's license, state ID, or passport. Lee County Marriage License Fees

The standard marriage license fee in Lee County is $86. Take a four-hour premarital course, and the fee drops to $61. This $25 savings is allowed under Florida Statute 741.0305. Bring the original certificate of completion to the clerk's office.

After the Wedding in Lee County

Once the ceremony is done, the signed license must go back to the Lee County Clerk within 10 days. The officiant usually handles this step. The clerk files the record and sends a copy to the Florida Department of Health for permanent storage. This state filing takes about 60 days.

Under Florida Statute 741.07, ordained ministers, judicial officers, clerks of the circuit court, and notaries public can all officiate. The Lee County Clerk performs ceremonies too, either in person or virtually, for a $30 fee. The license is valid for 60 days under Florida Statute 741.041.
