Davie marriage license information on Broward County Clerk website

You can search for existing marriage records through the Broward Clerk's online tools. The MyFloridaCounty portal also gives access to official records from all 67 Florida counties. Davie marriage licenses are part of the Broward County records system once the signed license is returned after the ceremony.

Marriage License Requirements in Davie

Both people go to the clerk in person. One person cannot apply alone. Bring a valid photo ID such as a driver's license, passport, state ID, or military ID. You need your Social Security number too. The card itself is not required. Just know the number.

Both applicants must be at least 18 years old. This is from Florida Statute 741.04. A 17-year-old can apply if they have parental consent and the other person is within two years of age. Florida does not require a blood test. There is no residency requirement. Davie residents, other Floridians, and out-of-state visitors can all apply at the Broward Clerk.

If either person had a previous marriage, the clerk needs the date it ended. You should know whether it ended through divorce, death, or annulment. Both people are also required to read the Family Law Handbook published by the Florida Bar. The clerk asks about this during the application.

Note: If you and your partner have children born in Florida together, the Broward Clerk may ask you to complete an additional form about those children.

Davie Marriage License Fee

The fee is $86. This is standard across all of Broward County. Every office charges the same. A four-hour premarital course lowers the fee to $61 and removes the three-day waiting period. Under Florida Statute 741.0305, both applicants must bring their course certificates to get the discount.

The Broward Clerk also charges $30 for a courthouse ceremony, $3 for certified copies, and $3.50 for an administration of oath. Cash and credit cards are accepted at the West Regional location in Plantation and at the other three offices. Part of the $86 license fee goes to the Domestic Violence Trust Fund.

Wait Time and Davie License Validity

Florida residents have a three-day wait. The license exists on the day you apply, but it does not become valid for three days. You cannot hold the ceremony during that time. The premarital course waives the wait completely. Non-Florida residents have no waiting period at all.

Once valid, the license lasts 60 days. Florida Statute 741.041 sets this time limit. If you do not have the ceremony within 60 days, the license expires. You would need to reapply and pay again. After the ceremony, the officiant sends the signed license back to the Broward Clerk within 10 days. The clerk files it and forwards the record to the Florida Department of Health.

Ceremony Options for Davie Residents

Who can marry you in Florida? Under Florida Statute 741.07, judges, ordained ministers, notary publics, and clerks of the circuit court can all perform weddings. The Broward Clerk offers a $30 civil ceremony at any of the four office locations. Many Davie couples choose this for a quick and simple option.

You are free to have the ceremony anywhere. A Davie marriage license is valid across all of Florida. Churches, parks, private homes, or a venue in another county all work. Just make sure the person performing the ceremony is authorized under Florida law and knows to return the signed license to the Broward Clerk promptly.
