The Broward County Clerk of the Circuit Court runs four marriage license locations. Both people must apply in person at the same time at any of these offices. The Central Courthouse in Fort Lauderdale is the main location. Three regional offices in Deerfield Beach, Hollywood, and Plantation give people in other parts of the county a closer option. Marriage License Requirements in Broward County

Both parties must be at least 18 years old and present in person. You need a valid photo ID. Accepted forms include a driver's license from any U.S. state, a passport, a U.S. military ID, a state identification card, or an alien registration card. You must know your Social Security number. The card is not required.

If you were married before, you need the exact date of the divorce, death, or annulment. The Broward County clerk also requires you to read the Family Law Handbook. Broward County Marriage License Waiting Period

Florida residents have a three-day waiting period. The license is not valid until three days after it is issued. If you take the premarital course, the waiting period goes away. The license becomes effective the same day. Non-Florida residents have no waiting period at all. This is helpful for couples visiting Broward County for a destination wedding.

The license stays valid for 60 days from the effective date. Under Florida Statute 741.041, no ceremony can take place after the license expires. If 60 days pass, you must apply again and pay the full fee at the Broward County clerk's office.
