Find Plantation Marriage License
Plantation marriage license applications are handled by the Broward County Clerk of Courts. Plantation has a big advantage over many Broward cities. The West Regional Courthouse sits right inside the city at 100 N. Pine Island Road. That means Plantation residents can walk into a Broward Clerk location without driving to Fort Lauderdale or another part of the county. With a population of about 101,000, Plantation is one of the larger cities in western Broward County. This page covers where to go, fees, ID requirements, and the full process.

You can search for existing marriage records through the Broward Clerk's online portal. The MyFloridaCounty portal also provides access to official records across all 67 Florida counties. Plantation marriage licenses become part of the Broward County record once the officiant returns the signed document after the ceremony.
Plantation Marriage License Requirements
Both applicants must appear in person. The clerk will not process the application if only one person shows up. Bring a valid photo ID. The clerk takes a driver's license, state ID, passport, or military ID. You need your Social Security number. You do not have to bring the card. Just know the number.
Both people must be 18 or older. This is from Florida Statute 741.04. A 17-year-old may apply with parental consent, but the other party must be within two years of age. Florida does not require a blood test. There is no residency requirement for a marriage license in Broward County. Anyone from any state or country can apply.
Were you married before? Bring the date the prior marriage ended and know if it was a divorce, death, or annulment. The clerk needs this. Both applicants must also read the Family Law Handbook published by the Florida Bar before coming in. Staff will ask if you have read it.
Note: Walk-ins are accepted at the Plantation West Regional location, but try to arrive before 3:00 PM to leave time to finish the process.
Plantation Marriage License Fees
The standard fee is $86. It is the same at all four Broward Clerk locations. Florida law sets this amount. Complete a four-hour premarital course and the fee drops to $61. Under Florida Statute 741.0305, both people must present their course completion certificates to qualify. The savings is $25, and the course also waives the three-day waiting period.
Other fees at the Broward Clerk include $30 for a courthouse ceremony, $3 for a certified copy of the marriage license, and $3.50 for an administration of oath. Cash and credit cards are accepted at the Plantation location. Part of the $86 license fee goes to the state Domestic Violence Trust Fund.
Wait Time for Plantation Marriage Licenses
Florida residents must wait three days after the clerk issues the license. The ceremony cannot happen during this time. Non-Florida residents skip the wait. The premarital course removes the waiting period for Florida residents too. Once valid, the license is good for 60 days under Florida Statute 741.041.
If 60 days pass without a ceremony, the license expires. You start over. New application, new fee. After the wedding, the officiant must return the signed license to the Broward Clerk within 10 days. The clerk records the marriage and sends it to the Florida Department of Health for permanent state records.
Ceremony Options in Plantation
Under Florida Statute 741.07, judges, ordained ministers, clerks of the circuit court, and notary publics can all perform wedding ceremonies in Florida. Of course, you can have the ceremony anywhere you want. A Plantation marriage license is valid across all of Florida. Churches, parks, private venues, or a beach in another county all work. Just make sure the person performing the ceremony is authorized under state law.
